What are the major misconceptions Christians have about Judaism? What are the major misconceptions Jews have about Christianity? How did these ideas develop, how can they be corrected, and how does a better understanding of our neighbors help Jews and Christians recover a part of their own history? Topics include the relation of Jesus to Judaism, views of the Divine, understandings of the Messiah, sin, salvation, different interpretations of the Bible, and the role of women historically.
Amy-Jill Levine is University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies, E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of New Testament Studies, and Professor of Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University. Her publications include The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus and The Meaning of the Bible: What the Jewish Scriptures and the Christian Old Testament Can Teach Us (co-authored with Douglas Knight); she is also the coeditor of the Jewish Annotated New Testament. Dr. Levine is a self-described "Yankee Jewish feminist who teaches in a predominantly Christian divinity school in the buckle of the Bible Belt."
